Zooey Deschanel, part 3

Usually I work on Saturdays, and it's my least favorite day of the week because it's sooooo slow and boring. But this morning, 10 minutes before I was about to leave for work, my boss called and said, "the power's out! No work today!"

Oh happy day!

I spent the day laying around the apartment, enjoying my freedom. Reading, napping, catching up on housework, browsing around Etsy, and even sipping a Jamba Juice. And drawing, of course!

This is the first drawing where I've attempted to use pencils and charcoal together. I just wasn't succeeding in getting the dark tones of the hair to be dark enough, so I dug around in my art drawer and discovered some charcoal pencils that I've been keeping for probably over 5 years and never used. Because, to be honest, I don't know how to use charcoal. In this drawing, I just used them in the same way I use pencils and it seems to be working ok. A little harder to erase and blend, though.

You can see part 1 here.

Thank you for leaving a comment! I read every single one!
