The one where I actually have stuff to talk about.

So!

Drawworm is about a year old. My Etsy shop, I mean; not me. Throughout this time, I averaged about one order a month. Barely a trickle by Etsy standards, but I didn't mind. My shop had not yet experienced the holiday season, so I had no idea what to expect.

Last month business was dead. Nada, nothing. I was concerned - the holiday season is gearing up, and I was off to a bad start. Then, about two days ago, a few things happened.

1. I joined Handmade Highway, and they featured me in a newsletter.
2. I started an Etsy forum thread that got my shop a lot of attention.
3. My Dr. McCoy drawing was Stumbledupon, and my blog got 300 hits in one day.

I don't know if it was all of these things or mainly one of them that caused a sudden surge of exposure for drawworm, but in the last two days I've gotten six orders. I am now officially booked for Christmas, and I am terribly excited about this! Six orders may not sound like a lot to most Etsy sellers, but to me, this is crazy amazing!

I wish I could take on more orders, but even as it is I'm going to have to push myself hard to finish all these in the next five-and-a-half weeks. I have a feeling there's going to be a few late nights and some serious self-discipline.

I've been continuing to work on the All Smiles portrait, my first Christmas order. :)

  1. Congratulations! I'm really happy for you! Getting popular sure is a mixed blessing, isn't it!?!?
