Studiokmo's Pen and Paper Maps

Today I discovered Studiokmo's elegant and amazingly detailed maps of cities. The city blocks are simply vertical lines drawn with varying spaces in between. Very cool.

Studiokmo sells both originals and prints in her shop at pretty reasonable prices. Although I was a little disappointed to see that she doesn't currently have artworks of San Francisco or Nagoya, there are several famous cities all over the world.

Although really, San Francisco is so gridly (I made up that word just now. It means "like a grid.") that I suppose it wouldn't make a very interesting art piece. Nagoya would be awesome though.

It's an idea so simple yet so brilliant; one of those things that makes you say, "how come I never thought of that?"

  1. At least you thought of "gridy". Take consolation in that.
