I'd say this sucker took about 25 hours total. I hope I get a decent grade on it. (Update: I got a B+! Yay!) I discovered that oil paintings are difficult to take photos of, because they're shiny. So a lot of these photos are kind of blurry.
My professor kept telling me to "add more detail," and I would think, "what else can I possibly add??" Easy enough for him to say - you can see his blog and mind-blowingly amazing paintings here. (My professor actually graduated from my school last year! In fact, he does quick demonstration paintings in class for us, and then he sells them! That's how good he is.)
It sure was hard to hold the brush steady for such tiny areas. Painting is not the same as pencil drawing at all! I admire artists who sell custom oil portraits on Etsy, but I don't think I'll be selling them anytime soon!
Absolutely beautiful! A+
ReplyDeleteI think it looks pretty awesome! I can't even imagine being able to paint like that! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Both the piece and the artist! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the personality that comes through in this one.
That is just amazing! I agree, A+!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I didn't know you did oil paintings as well! Wow I'm very impressed and I cant believe this only took you 25 hours! I would have thought this took months to do.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteApril, I only just started doing oil paintings because it's a required class at my school.
Well I am very impressed. Thats something that I would love to do one day. But as you know I have a long way to go before I get there lol. I'm just so taken back that this is your starting point! You have such a special gift.
