Ugly Renaissance Babies

I shall be forever grateful to my friend Molly for introducing me to the blog Ugly Renaissance Babies. It's a collection of old paintings drawn by artists who were clearly skilled painters, but had apparently never seen a human baby before. Most are of Mary and Jesus, but there are also some cupids and portraits, all accompanied by hilarious captions. It's guaranteed to make you feel better about your own artistic skills.

  1. Wow... I think the first one you posted takes the cake. That baby kind of reminds me of the Family Guy episode when Peter starts giving Stewie steroids. And the guy hovering in the background... amazing.

  3. I love these. I wonder what it must have been like back then, no light, no heat and no internet.

  4. Glad I'm not the only one that thought paintings of babies were ugly and funny from that time!
