Drawworm: the early years

There has never been a B.D. (Before Drawings) period of my life. I have always been interested in art. As a child, I was an extremely prolific artist. About 70% of my drawings were princesses in pretty dresses. (The rest were ballerinas, fairies, mermaids and brides. What a tomboy!) This one was from a fairy tale that I read. I don't remember the name, but I do remember that it had a girl going to three balls, wearing a different magical dress each time: the dress as shining as the stars, the dress as silver as the moon, and the dress as golden as the sun.

Unfortunately there's no date on this paper. It looks like I used an old homework sheet to draw on; you can see it showing through the paper. The homework appears to be some sort of scissor-practice craft. So I guess I was pretty young.

Looking at this drawing reminds me of how I used to have a special drawer in my desk that held nothing but crayons.

  2. That looks like your 7-8 year old period. You began drawing faces in profile around that time. I've got a nice collection from that period. It must be worth a fortune by now!
